CRISPY OVEN-BAKED CHICKEN WINGS – With Sweet and Sour Sauce

Welcome to souped up recipes. Today we are making sweet and sour chicken wings. This is my favorite chicken wings, and i am sure if you try it you gonna do the same thing i just did… Haha, so let’s get started. I got 1 .2f pounds of chicken wings here. Make sure they are clean and dry. Then let’s marinate it with 1.5 tbsp of home made garlic chili sauce, some times I use sambao, also i use lee kum
kee very often, they all taste good. You can use any Asian style chili sauce, just need to adjust it to your level. Because you don’t want it to be super spicy. Next we gonna add 1/2 tsp of salt and some freshly ground black pepper. Last, we gonna add a little bit vegetable oil, just to lubricated, also, tinny amount ofoil will make the skin even more crispy! Give that a toss, mix it evenly. Let it sit for at least 1 hour. You can do it over night, that will be better. Add in about 1 cup of plain flour. Give it a mix, toss it until they all nicely coated. You can do it in a big bag too. You know, shake shake shake! Then we gonna place that in the baking pan. Put this in into the hot oven. Middle level, 400 degree for 30 minutes. 30 minutes later, It should look like this. Turn it over. The other side doesn’t look that good. but don’t worry we need to bake it for another 20 – 30 minutes. And if you can put a roasting rack under it,
that will be better. Because the liquid can drop down and the other side will turn out much better. Put it back it, let’s make the sauce. For that we gonna add about 1.5 tbsp of home made garlic chili sauce, like i say before, you can use sambao chili sauce, lee kum kee, or Asian style chili sauce. I try it many times, they work fine and taste good. After that, we gonna add in 1/4 cup of honey. For the sourness we gonna add about 1.5 tbsp of lemon juice. You can put a little more if you like sour. 1 and half tbsp of hoisin sauce this is what i use, there is an amazon link in the description. You can check that out Last ingredient, 1 tsp of soy sauce. We gonna put it on the stove and cook it on medium heat. During this time you have to keep stirring
it in case it stick to the bottom. Once it is bubbling. Turn the heat to low Just let it cook for few minutes, keep stirring it until it looks like this, feels sticky but still pretty flowing. Because if it is too watery, then it will
moisten the crispy skin. If it is too sticky, then it is not easy to
coat the chicken wings. Let’s check the chicken wings. This is how it should look like when it turns
out. To me, that is the most beautiful sound in the world. Let’s transfer that into a large bowl, pour in the sauce, oh, the sauce looks delicious. I just love that shinny red color. Mix that until all the chicken wings are coated with that amazing sauce. For some reason, shinny food usually equals delicious, which is true. Because look how gorgeous that is? Squeeze some lime juice on it, can’t wait to take a bite. Super crispy skin, it has a good balance between sweet and sour, a little spicy kick. Oh, i feel like i fall in love with it. I hope you give this a try soon. Check the description for all the ingredient amounts and the steps. Give me a thumbs up if you like it. And i want to see you next time=)
