Shabbona Lake State Recreation Area

Shabbona Lake State Park was named after Chief Shabonna the park itself is just over 1500 acres there’s a 320 acre lake
you can bring your own boat we also have full supply of boats for renting from
our concessionaire pontoon boats fishing boats kayaks and paddleboards there is
an area on the lake that we do allow sailboating you can catch anything here
from muskie largemouth smallmouth bass crappie and bluegill
there have been four state record muskies caught here I really think that
the department has done a great job with this lake as far as fish stocking
with the support of the Shabbona Sportsman Club and Friends of Shabbona
Lake State Park combined I think that this has really helped make this place a
successful site Shabbona Lake also has a full-service restaurant they’re known
for their Friday night fish fries we have over 12 and 1/2 miles of trail in
the wintertime it is used as a snowmobile trail they can go through the
wooded areas there’s some nice open areas there’s walks that take you right
through native prairie and wildflowers the campground has 150 spots we have two cabins that sit down along the shore favorite thing about this park is that
we offer something for everybody whether it’s camping or the hunting or
the fishing or people that just want to come out and have a picnic I think
that’s that’s the cool thing about us
